Glorifying God by rooting teens in Christ to grow into adult disciples.

"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." - Colossians 2:6-7

WELCOME!

Whether you are a student, a parent/guardian, or someone interested in helping with youth ministry, we hope this page is a helpful resource for you.

Radiate Youth Group is Laguna Chinese Baptist Church’s community of teenagers (7th-12th grade), their families, and other adults who strive to glorify God by rooting teens in Christ to grow into adult disciples. The infamous "teen years" provide a unique opportunity for teenagers to grow in their faith as they become more independent as young adults.

To accomplish our mission, we need:

  1. The Bible: We need the Word of God to guide us in everything we do. Colossians 3:16; 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Practically, this means we keep the Bible at the center of our teaching and discussion times together.
  2. Each OtherGod created us and saves us to be in a church community as believers, so it is essential that we be dependent on each other. Romans 12:4-5; Galatians 6:2. Practically, this means we value having fun together, deepening friendships, and being connected with the rest of the church.
  3. The Holy Spirit Changing UsIt takes the work of the Spirit of God to change us. We cannot change ourselves. John 15; Galatians 3:2-5. Practically, this means we value prayer and relying on God for everything in our ministry.

Opportunities for our teens and their families:

Sunday School (Every Sunday 10:45am - 12:00pm)

We invite all teens to join us for Youth Sunday School every Sunday starting at 10:45am. We meet in the "Youth Room," which is rooms 212/213 in the ETC building (the red building). The focus of Sunday School is to go deeper into studying the Bible together, with an emphasis on learning through teaching from the Bible. NOTE: You do not need to go to the Children's Ministry Check-In station. You can come directly to the Youth Room, and we will mark your name on our attendance list.

For more information, refer to the weekly Radiate newsletter, or contact us at radiate@lagunabaptist.org.

Friday Meetings (Most Fridays 7:30pm - 9:30pm)

Radiate Youth Group also meets every week in ETC 212-213 on Friday evenings (except for 5th Fridays) from 7:30PM-9:30PM. This is a chance for our teenagers to fellowship together, pray together, and meet in small groups to talk about life and help each other grow closer to God. Friday Radiate meetings also include fun games, worshipping Christ through music, and more!

Summer Camp (Every summer in July)

Every summer in July we set aside 3 days for a summer camp for teens. We go to Wolf Mountain Camp where we give the teens and our adult counselors a chance to get away from our busy schedules, reflect and evaluate life, and have dedicated time to learn from the Bible and deepen our friendships with one another through messages from the Bible and fun team games and activities.

Winter Retreat (Every winter break)

During the 2-week winter/holiday school break, we set aside 2-3 days for a Winter Retreat for our teens and adult counselors. We go to Wolf Mountain Camp where we get a chance to relax after the busy school semester and spend some dedicated time refreshing our hearts and minds with teaching from the Bible. We also have activities where we can have fun and deepen our friendships with one another.

Adult Volunteers:

Whether you are a parent of a teenager, a young adult, or an empty-nester, we welcome any adult volunteer who has a heart for young people and desires to help them know and love Jesus in a deeper way. Since an adult volunteer is working with minors, we require all volunteers to fill out an application, be a member in good-standing of our church, and pass a background check.
