Our first-ever Women’s Retreat is happening this fall at Wolf Mountain Camp in Grass Valley, CA, where Janet Aucoin of Faith Church in Indiana will speak on the theme of “Pressing Forward with Purpose.” It will be a weekend of Christ-centered teaching to equip and encourage; opportunities to be still and worship God whether it be through music or simply enjoying His creation of nature; well-rounded meals (not prepared by you!) with fellow sisters in the dining hall; activities like crafts, horseback riding, and FREE TIME.

Registration is $130 ($133 if paying online, to cover processing fees) and is open until September 11. Checks can be made out to Laguna Chinese Baptist Church. Scholarships are available for those who need it.

Registrants also receive a free copy of Dane Ortlund’s Gentle and Lowly! See below for information on the book club for Gentle and Lowly, which retreat participants are especially encouraged to attend in preparation for retreat.

*Considering the ongoing pandemic, all participants will be asked to test for COVID the week leading up to the retreat. In the case of COVID, you will receive a full refund of registration fees.

For more information, see us at the registration table in the East Entrance at church, or email Cecilia and Sheryl at womensministry@lagunabaptist.org.

gentle lowly thumbnail The full title of Dane Ortlund’s book is Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Jesus for Sinners and Sufferers, and just the title alone is a powerful and beautiful reminder of Jesus’ heart of love and grace for us! Cecilia and Miranda will lead a 5-week in-person book club on Mondays 7- 9PM, 9/19-10/17, where we will take a deep dive into Ortlund’s book and discuss Christ’s generous heart towards us. All women are invited and will receive a free copy of Gentle and Lowly upon signing up! Those who register for Women’s Retreat are especially encouraged to join the book club in preparation for retreat. For more info or to sign up, see us at the registration table in the East Entrance at church, or email womensministry@lagunabaptist.org. Registration closes September 11.

FAQs

What about COVID-19? Our health and safety protocols for COVID-19 will be the same as the protocols our church has adopted recently, which means masks are optional and that we ask campers to be careful and make sure they are not exhibiting symptoms right before leaving for camp. Additionally, we ask all women to test for COVID on 10/26 or 10/27 and report their results to our retreat Health Coordinator. If you don’t have a COVID test kit, we will provide one for you. In the case of COVID, a full refund of retreat fees will be issued.

What will lodging arrangements be like? We will be housed in the main lodge, with small groups of women sharing each room, summer-camp style!

What is included in the registration cost? Lodging, meals, 4 sessions from our guest speaker, fun activities and games, a loaded goody bag, a copy of Dane Ortlund’s Gentle and Lowly, and more!

What kinds of activities will there be? Activities offered during retreat may include crafts, a high ropes course, horseback riding, zip line, hiking, and more—at no extra cost to attendees! Instead, save your spending money for a visit to The Bonanza Trading Co., Wolf Mountain’s snack and souvenir store, or make a stop at Stompin’ Grounds Coffeehouse, their coffee and smoothie shop.

I have a food allergy, what do I do? When you register online (see the link above), enter your food allergy as a medical note, and we will pass it along to the camp staff. Wolf Mountain is highly accommodating, and we will make sure you are taken care of!

What about transportation? We are arranging rides up to retreat and back. When you register online (see the link above), indicate whether you will need a ride, or if you will be driving and will be able to take passengers. You are also free to drive on your own.

What if I can’t get there until Saturday or need to leave early? That’s totally fine! We just ask that you let us know if you will be arriving late or leaving early, so we don’t initiate a search crew!

What should I bring? Please bring a sleeping bag, pillow, towels, toiletries, flashlight, Bible, notepad, pen or pencil, a warm jacket, and spending money if you plan on visiting the camp souvenir shop or coffee shop. Closed-toe shoes with backs are required for horseback riding and the high ropes course. A more detailed list will be sent to campers as the retreat approaches.
